A Message for Someone Now Gone

22 February, 2024

I know you’ll never read this, but I’m putting this (digital) note in a (digital) bottle and lobbing it into the (digital) oceans anyway.

We probably weren’t as close as we should have been. A lot of little reasons for that, but it was what it was. Still, we were family and that’s what mattered.

But you were one of the first people to look past my daughter’s disability and to see her for the person she is. You loved my little girl unconditionally; she loved you as much. Words can’t express how much I appreciated all of that.

Rest easy.
